Frequently asked questions.

About A Realm of Ash and Shadow

  • I’m so thankful that you’re asking this question! The truth is all versions and formats of A Realm of Ash and Shadow (except for pirated versions!) help me as an author. But if you don't have a preference, any e-book version is best.

  • A Realm of Ash and Shadow is available on Amazon exclusively.

  • Valeria is eighteen. She is foul-mouthed and sex-positive. There is plenty of cursing (f-bombs galore) and on-page sex. The series will only get spicier!

  • Sexual Content

    Graphic Violence and Gore

Abusive Relationships and Domestic Violence (via a single flashback)

    Abandonment and Grief

    Profanity

  • A Realm of Ash and Shadow is intended to be part of four-book series.

  • Lourdes with Diamond Book Covers!

 About Writing + Publishing

  • Whew. It was long. It was hard. But I made it! It took my four years (off and on) to write, polish, and self-publish A Realm of Ash and Shadow.

  • Yes. But ultimately, after a brief bout with a small publisher, I decided that self-publishing was going to be the best route for me and the writing career that I want to have.

  • I use Scrivener, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word. I like to switch it up depending on which version of the draft I’m on!

  • My writing process is a little chaotic. I definitely think I fall into the Pantser side of things because I tend to have a conversation or a scene play out in my head that I picture so vividly, and then I write to get to that scene and beyond. Sometimes these conversations wake me from a dead sleep, and I draft them on my phone from bed in the dark. Other times, they’ll spark from a song that I’m listening to, a show or a movie I’m watching, or a conversation I’m having.

  • First, take a minute to celebrate! This is a HUGE accomplishment :) After you’ve celebrated, you gotta revise, revise, revise! Find some Critique Partners and ask them for feedback. Revise some more. Find some Beta Readers and get their feedback. Then revise some more. Do you see what I’m getting at??? You want your book to be as shiny as it can be before entering the querying trenches or self-pubbing!

  • Sorry, but no! I’m so busy doing ~waves frantically~ all the things, so I can’t take a look at your pages.
